This is a fairly wide field image (2deg 52' x 2deg 9') of most of the Pelican Nebula and the Florida 7 Gulf of Mexico region of the North America Nebula. Imaged with a Stellarvue SVX80-3SV 80mm app at f4.4.

Went overboard with OII and SII subs as waiting for 3nm filters to replace the old ZWO 7nm filters that make life difficult with light polluted skies. Took most subs after midnight when local light pollution less over 12 nights during the period May 10 to June 6, 2022.

OIII 7nm 98 x 480s (13.0 hours)
SII 7nm 119 x 480s (15.9 hours)
RGB for stars 38 x 180s (1.9 hours total, roughly 12 subs per filter)
Total integration time 39.2 hours

Processing in Pixinsight. Preprocessing with WBPP 2.4.5. Particular care with DBE iterations critical for removing light pollution gradients. HOS processed as tone maps with RGB stars added to starless image. Converted to non-linear with Arcsine stretch.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
